Businesses who are listed on Google can use Google places to plot their business, define business hours and even post pictures and video. Google places is designed to target local clients and customers who may be searching for a specific product or service in the area.

Getting on Google Places is relatively easy and can be done in 3 steps.  The first step to create an account and submit relevant information such as an address, phone number, email, hours of operation, payment methods, pictures and videos. Once you submit your information. You will then receive a PIN number that you can verify over phone or by mail. Once Google receives and confirms your account your account will start appearing throughout Google including Google Maps, Mobile Phone and Google Search.

The best part of Google Places is it’s free and it’s up to your the business owner to make the best of it.

Why you need Google Places

Google Places is new local Yellow Pages and should be apart of any online search engine strategy. The benefits of using Google Places is not only are you using a free service from Google Places but it also increase your Google page rank. Since Google Places target local searches someone searching for “Lawn Care Waterloo Iowa” results will not only show local but businesses that might be local. Using Google Places your business would show up towards the top and will usually be shown on a map that usually shows up in the search results.
